The Industrial Business Unit of SGS Italia (Industrial) provides customised solutions for every need, working both as a second party (on behalf and in the name of the customer), and as an independent third-party.

SECOND PARTY

An on-site inspection checking that the materials provided are in compliance with contractual requirements, brings clear advantages for the company, especially if such procedures are carried out by an Accredited Body. The main advantages can be summarised as follows:

  • the detection of any non-compliance on site involves fewer costs for the vendor, while also maintaining his credibility with the customer;
  • the supplier is more open to observations made by an Inspection Company;
  • the company can portray itself as a respected and professional concern, without having to bear the costs of a permanent structure.

THIRD PARTY

The aim in any commercial transaction is to protect the interests of all the parties involved. This can be accomplished by appointing a third party, whose task is to check that the supplies comply with the contractual requirements freely agreed by the parties.

Inserting a requirement for an independent inspection either in the contract or in a letter of credit has clear advantages for both the vendor/exporter and the buyer/importer, especially if it is carried out by a company with international credibility such as SGS.

For the buyer: less risk of non-compliance with the contractual requirements, and the consequent inconvenience and delays resulting from complaints and disputes; conformity with certain standards in relation to safety, work hygiene and worker health included within the inspection.

For the vendor: image of "transparency" in dealings with the buyer; facilitation of payment terms, no longer contingent on compulsory checks after receipt of goods; protection of his interests in the event of claims (goods arriving in poor state or with missing parts).

It should be noted that, thanks to special accreditations/recognitions by local authorities, SGS can provide support services to exporters of goods to various countries (e.g. Russia, Egypt, Iran, China, Saudi Arabia and many others). In addition, its wide network enables it to work anywhere with local experts, issuing certifications and offering services that would otherwise have to be commissioned abroad.
