UPDATE: APRIL 29, 2020

As Phase 2 is coming and the government regulations will be effective from 4th May, SGS offices are actively preparing for a gradual reopening and resumption of all activities. 

For this purpose, a Task Force has been set up to better design the reintegration of employees into the workplace and to think about prevention and safety measures to protect anyone who has access to our offices (employees and visitors). Remote working will still be the preferred option for all those activities that can be carried out from home; In addition, flexible working hours have been further extended for employees who use public transport to reach the office.

The health and safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority and we will continue to strengthen preventive measures to minimize further spread of the virus.

UPDATE: MARCH 18, 2020

Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus our top priority has been the health and safety of our people and our customers, and we continue to strengthen the preventive measures to minimize the spread of the virus:

  • Travel restrictions and site closures
  • Supply of protective masks for employees as required by type of job and risk of exposure
  • Employees must work remotely from their home base and avoid all access to offices
  • Heightened control, hygiene and prevention measures on operational sites

SGS is constantly monitoring official announcements from national and local authorities, International SOS and the World Health Organization for developments, as businesses across the world are increasingly impacted by the spread of the virus.

We are also extremely focused on keeping customers regularly informed about our services to limit any potential disruption to their supply chain. We are also complying with extra measures requested by our customers as far as possible.

UPDATE: MARCH 10, 2020

In response to the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy, exceptional public health measures have been implemented and every effort is being made to identify and isolate infected people in order to contain the outbreak. SGS Italy is strictly following all preventive measures implemented by the relevant Authorities. 

We have put in place the following guidance to protect the health of our employees, customers and visitors to our laboratories and offices:

  • Inbound and outbound travel ban to/from Italy for all SGS employees. Travel bans apply to business meetings, training and seminars. Intercity travel for service execution is subject to special permission or medical needs.
  • All employees have been instructed to work remotely from their home base and avoid access to offices. Operational staff who must carry out field activities need special permission from SGS and be able to show local authorities the “essential work” certification. In addition, they will be equipped with “FFP2” protective masks which will be distributed to them shortly.
  • SGS continues to share specific information to employees regarding preventive measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Where the situation permits, SGS is proactively proposing innovative ways to support our customers so that their business continues during this challenging time.

SGS takes the safety of both its employees and its clients very seriously; SGS continues to monitor developments from local authorities and the World Health Organization and is actively supporting our customers to help their business recover from the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The health and safety of our employees and our customers remains our top priority. We are following local business continuity plans and health bulletins suggesting that employees follow preventive measures on SGS sites such as hand washing, using antiseptic gel, travel restrictions in the orange zone and travel bans in red zones impacted by the virus. We offer employees the possibility to work remotely from their home base and more flexible working hours for employees who travel to work by public transport.

We are doing everything possible to ensure our people and our customer’s people remain safe in the workplace in compliance with official guidelines; SGS is actively supporting our customers to help their business recover from the impact of the Coronavirus outbreak.
